i'm bipolar. therapist told me. don't think she realized i didn't know. i managed to have no outward reaction--helped that she was intently reading the file.
i'm not sure how i feel now that it's real. i immediately found myself thinking maybe he put it there just to get the insurance company to pay for the meds he had chosen.
but i know better.
ofcourse i will try to work up the courage to ask him at my next appt with him. for now i see the therapist every week.
if you could have seen her face as she questioned me about my family. she was horrified and it amused me. i just kept telling her "yeah i know they're crazy--all i want to know is how to deal with them without it destroying me."

Welcome to the club! You are in good company. When I was diagnosed over a year ago, I was relieved that someone cared enough to find out what was wrong with me. The diagnosis supports my mood and behavior changes.
Make sure your p-doc gives you the correct meds and dosages. Try and do some research if you can on the disease and its levels.
If you don't have adaquate health coverage look into the state mental health clinics in your area.
didn't that 1890s war hero say "knowing was half the battle?" by that standard, you are well ahead of things... and you certainly don't have to convince me that you've made giant steps toward self actualization... find comfort in knowing and as strange as it may sound, search for the gift you've been given, or let what you already know permeate all of your senses... live it, be it, embrace it.
...1980s that is.
